The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on April 23, 2022 at around 9:45 p.m., Deputies responded to the intersection of State Route 414 and the NYS Thruway onramp in the Town of Tyre for a two vehicle personal injury accident. An investigation into the accident yielded that the operator of the involved Gray Dodge Minivan, 45 year old Joel P. McLeod of Batavia, New York, failed to yield the right of way to Southbound traffic when he attempted to turn left from the turn lane of State Route 414 onto the NYS Thruway onramp without having sufficient time to do so. As a result, the Minivan was impacted on the passenger side front panel by the second involved vehicle, a Blue Nissan Sedan being operated by 67 year old Claudette A. Turo of Genoa, New York. At the time of the accident there was one additional passenger in each of the involved vehicles. In the front passenger seat of the Minivan was 25 year old Rayneil Daley. Daley was looked over by EMS on scene and did not require any further medical treatment. In the front passenger seat of the Sedan was 77 year old Donald S. Reeves. Reeves was also checked out at the scene by EMS and accompanied Turo to Geneva General Hospital for further medical treatment. Turo was the most severely injured party in the accident and complained of chest pain. The Minivan sustained damage to the front passenger side panel, and the Sedan sustained heavy damage to the front of the vehicle. Eagle Auto responded to the scene and removed the Minivan and towed it to their shop. Stevers responded to the scene and removed the Sedan and towed it to their shop. Assisting on scene were members of North Seneca Ambulance, and the Clyde Fire Department. 22SH07760. 146
