House Fire Town of Romulus

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on 1/21/20 at around 3:00 am, Deputies responded to 5658 Cherry Hill Rd, in the Town of Romulus for the house fire. Deputies report that Jared Minges, 20, and his sister Hannah Minges, 17, were asleep upstairs when their wood stove caught on fire. Both were able to get out safely along with their four dogs. The fire was quickly put out with fire extinguishers before it could spread to the rest of the house. Members of Romulus FD, Fayette FD, Ovid FD and Varick FD responded to the scene and assisted. The cause of fire was determined to be from the wood stove. The house is owned by Erich Minges age 50 , who was not home at the time of the fire.  Deputies report that the damage is estimated to be at approximately $30,000, and the home is not insured.
