The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports on December 10, 2020, Investigators arrested Samuel K Stoltzfus, age 27, and Fannie H Stoltzfus, age 26, both of 2407 Ernsberger Road, Romulus, New York, following the investigation into the death of a 3 year old child. On the morning of October 23, 2020, Sheriff’s Deputies and Investigators responded to the Ernsberger Road address for the report of an unresponsive 3 year old male. Deputies, along with first responders from the Romulus Fire Department, North Seneca Ambulance and South Seneca Ambulance performed extensive life saving measures on the child who was subsequently transported to Geneva General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Sheriff’s Investigators and Seneca County Child Protective Services performed an extensive investigation that resulted in the discovery that the child was left alone in a barn. As a result of the lack of supervision, the child accidentally drowned in a container filled with liquid. Following the discovery of the child, both parents did act appropriately and called for emergency medical services. Both defendants were charged with one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child and are to appear in the Varick Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.
