The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on December 28th at approximately 9:15PM, Deputies were dispatched to State Route 89 in the Town of Fayette for the report of a 1 car property damage accident in which a vehicle had driven into a ditch, after striking a fire hydrant belonging to the Town of Seneca Falls Water Department and a mailbox. It was reported that the vehicle was attempting to leave the scene of the accident prior to Deputies arrival. The Town of Seneca Falls Police Department responded to assist the Sheriff’s Office and was able to locate the vehicle and held it until Deputies arrived. During the course of the investigation It was discovered that the operator of the vehicle, Tally J. McDonald, age 24 of Romulus NY, was traveling southbound on State Route 89 when her vehicle left the roadway, and sustained severe damage when it struck the fire hydrant and the mailbox. Deputies report that McDonald did move the vehicle approximately a half a mile south of the original scene of the accident . After further investigation McDonald was charged with DWI and taken into custody and transported to the Seneca County Sheriffs Office in Romulus . McDonald was charged with- Leaving the scene of a property damage accident, Consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle (Open container) , Failure to maintain designated lane, Driving While Intoxicated, and Aggravated DWI (BAC .18 or higher) McDonald was released on appearance tickets, and is to answer the charges in the Town of Fayette court on a later date. The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by members of the Town of Seneca Falls Police Department, and members of the New York State Park Police.
