The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Friday, July 7th, 2023 at around 2:27am, Deputies, while on routine patrol in the Village of Interlaken, observed a vehicle commit multiple violations of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law. Upon conducting a traffic stop on the vehicle, Deputies identified Nicholas A. Phelps, age 24 of 2578 County Road 139 Ovid, New York to be the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle. Upon further investigation, to include field sobriety tests, Phelps showed signs of Intoxication, and was subsequently placed under arrest for DWI. Phelps was transported by Deputies to the Seneca County Correctional facility where he was processed and released with Appearance Tickets. Charges include Driving While Intoxicated, Driving with .08 of 1% or more of Alcohol, Failure to Dim Headlights, and No/Insufficient Tail Lamps. Phelps is due back in the Town of Covert Court at a later date in August, 2023 to answer all charges.
