Biography: The Chief Deputy

Chief Deputy Richard Reed

Chief Deputy Reed started his law enforcement career in June of 2006 when he successfully completed the Finger Lakes Law Enforcement Academy and began working as a Deputy Sheriff assigned to the Road Patrol Division of the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office. In 2014, Chief Deputy Reed was promoted to the rank of sergeant in the Road Patrol Division. During his time as supervisor, he oversaw the Field Training Program, maintaining the Sheriff’s Office crime reporting system, along with other duties. In 2023 Chief Deputy Reed was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in the Road Patrol division. Reed is certified as an accident reconstructionist, field training officer, firearms instructor, Crisis Intervention Training instructor. Along with his law enforcement career, Reed completed 21 years in the New York State Army National Guard. Chief Deputy Reed resides in Seneca Falls and has three children, Ethan, Tanner and Riley
