Seneca County Sheriff Luce has set a travel advisory for Seneca County to last until Sunday at 1:00 P.M.  The roads are snow covered and slippery but passable at this time. Winds will pick up later causing drifting. The Sheriff asks for no unnecessary travel until Sunday at 1:00 P.M.  Please remember if you have to travel to make sure your vehicle is in good repair and you have extra clothing and emergency supplies in case you get stuck or break down. Deputies and highway workers will continue to monitor the road conditions and update when needed.

Weather Advisory

Seneca County Sheriff W. Timothy Luce would like to advise the Residents of Seneca County of the severity of the impending storm predicted for this weekend. It is predicted that starting Saturday in the afternoon hours will start and continue into Sunday. The accumulation is predicted to be 12 to 18 inches of snow fall. More importantly starting Sunday into Monday the wind will pick up and the wind chill is expected to be 20 to 35 degrees below zero. Please be prepared for this storm in advance, and remember during the extreme cold to take safety precautions. Deputies, County Highway personnel and Emergency Management Office Personnel will be monitoring road and weather conditions as the storm develops. Updates will be put out as needed.

Welfare Fraud Arrest

On January 16, 2019 at about 5:45pm, Seneca County Sheriff’s Investigators arrested Dawn M. Freeland, age 49, of 636 Dublin Road, Clyde, New York, on charges of Welfare Fraud in the Third Degree, a Class D Felony, and Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the First Degree, a Class E Felony. It is alleged that Freeland failed to report household income while receiving monetary benefits from Seneca County in the amount of $4,168.54. Freeland was arraigned in the Seneca County Centralized Arraignment Court and released on her own recognizance. Freeland is to reappear in the Waterloo Village Court on February 6, 2019 at 5pm.

Identity Theft/Larceny Arrests

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of two individuals following an investigation into a larceny complaint. On January 10, 2019 Investigators arrested Charles D McNeil, age 37 of Waterloo NY, on the charges of Grand Larceny 4th degree and Identity Theft 2nd degree, both Class E Felonies. On January 14, 2019 Investigators also arrested Dawne M McNeil, age 43 of Waterloo NY, on the charges of Petit Larceny, a Class A Misdemeanor, and Identity Theft 2nd degree, a Class E Felony. It is alleged that both suspects used the Debit Card belonging to a male victim on numerous occasions and  withdrew money without the victim’s knowledge or permission.  As a result, the male victim sustained substantial financial loss.  Charles McNeil is currently incarcerated at the Seneca County Correctional Facility on unrelated charges.  Both Charles and Dawne were released on appearance tickets and are scheduled to appear at the Waterloo Town Court on January 23, 2019 to answer the charges.


Crim Poss Controlled Sub 7th / Harassment 2nd

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports on January 13, 2019 at 02:32 AM, Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Beau Warren, 39, of 105 Merriman Street Rochester, NY  for Harassment in the 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree. Sheriff’s Deputies report the arrest stems from a physical altercation with a City of Rochester female, while at the Del Lago Casino in the  Town of Tyre .  Warren was  arraigned in the CAP court and committed to the correctional facility on $500 cash / $1000 bail bond, he is to appear in Tyre Town Court on 1-15-19 to answer the charges.

December 11th, 2018: The Family Services Unit charged a suspect with physical and sexual child abuse going back to 2013 in the Town of Lodi. 

December 15th, 2018: Deputies and Corrections Officers conducted the annual Shop with a Sheriff event. Ten children participated. Sheriff’s Office employees raised the money to fund the event. 

December 18th, 2018: NARCO charged 2 suspects with Class A-II felonies for possessing a large amount of methamphetamine in the Town of Lodi.

December 19th, 2018: After a lengthy investigation, Investigators arrested a suspect for sexually abusing 2 children in the Town of Tyre.

December 20th, 2018: Investigations located and arrested a level 3, (highest risk), registered sex offender from Waterloo. He allegedly moved without reporting and was at large for several days.

December 27th, 2018: Road Patrol responded to a Domestic Violence Incident in progress in the Town of Lodi. The suspect was apprehended at the scene in violation of an Order of Protection.

December 27th, 2018: The investigation into 2 former County Officials was completed and turned over to the District Attorney’s Office to evaluate possible criminal charges.

Criminal Mischief/Tampering with Physical Evidence

On January 10, 2019, at about 12:30pm, Seneca County Sheriff’s Investigators arrested Kyle G. Clawson, age 41, and Steven J. Kirby, also age 41, on a charge of Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor. Kirby was additionally charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence, a Class E Felony. The charges stem from an incident that occurred within the Seneca County Correctional Facility on 01-08-19 at about 7:10pm. At that time, Clawson and Kirby were confined as inmates and it is alleged that they intentionally damaged a speaker in a Housing Unit. Following the act, it is further alleged that Kirby concealed the damaged pieces of the speaker in an effort to conceal it from Correction Officers. Both Clawson and Kirby were arraigned in the Seneca County Centralized Arraignment Court and remanded back to the Seneca County Correctional Facility.


Assault 2nd Arrest

The Seneca Co. Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of Elliot Flores, 26, currently incarcerated in the Seneca Co Correctional Facility. Investigators arrested Flores on 1/8/19 at about 4pm on one count of assault in the 2nd degree (Class D Felony). Its reported that on 12/12/18 at about 6:30pm, Flores assaulted a Seneca County Corrections Officer while incarcerated in the facility on unrelated charges. Investigators say that the Corrections Officer was assaulted by Flores while delivering toilet paper to Flores’s cell. When the Corrections Officer opened the cell door he was ambushed by Flores. The Corrections Officer sustained a bloody lip, a laceration to the eye as well as other cuts and abrasion’s. The Corrections Officer was transported to Geneva General Hospital for treatment and has since returned to work. Flores was arraigned in the CAP Court.

Criminal Contempt Arrest

The Seneca Co Sheriff’s Office reports that on 1/4/19 at about 4pm Investigators arrested Edward W. Robinson,28, an inmate at the Seneca Co. Correctional Facility in Romulus for 4 counts of Criminal Contempt 1st degree(class E Felony), 55 counts of Aggravated Family Offense(class E Felony) and 55 counts of Aggravated Harassment in the 2nd Degree(class A Misdemeanor). Investigators report that between the dates of 12/15/18 and 12/18/18 while Robinson was incarcerated in the Seneca Co. Jail, Robinson made 55 phone calls to a female victim who had a class A order of protection against Robinson. Robinson who is currently held in the Seneca Co. Jail on an unrelated matter will be arraigned in CAP Court on 1/4/19 at 7pm.

Criminal Mischief 2nd arrest

The Seneca Co Sheriff’s Office reports that on 1/4/19 at about 3pm Investigators arrested Christopher J. Freeman,31, of 1884 St Rt. 318 for Criminal Mischief 2nd degree(class D Felony), Burglary 3rd degree(class D Felony) and 5 counts of Menacing in the 3rd degree(class A Misdemeanor). Investigators report that at about 4am on 11/25/18 while at Del Lago Resort and Hotel in Tyre, the elevator became stuck and then Freeman and his brother Terrance J. Freeman damaged an elevator and the damage was in excess of $51,000. Terrance J. Freeman was arrested on 11/25/18. Its also reported that Christopher J. Freemen was banned from the property in May of 2018 for an unrelated incident. This resulted in the Burglary charge. During the incident Christopher J. Freemen made threatening statements to 5 security officers of Del Lago leading to the Menacing 3rd in the degree charges. Christopher J. Freeman was held at the Seneca Co. Correctional Facility awaiting arraignment in CAP Court.
