Narcotics Arrest

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports, on April 9th, 2019, members of the Narcotics Unit arrested Brian L. Buck, age 49, of 75 Virginia Street Apt 4, Waterloo, New York. The arrest stems from an investigation where It is alleged that Buck was in possession of drug paraphernalia and crack cocaine. Subsequently, Buck was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree. Buck was arraigned at the Centralized Arraignment Court and remanded to the Seneca County Correctional Facility. Buck is to reappear at a later date to answer the charges.

2 car PI MVA

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports on 04/ 10/2019 at about 6:40 AM , Deputies responded to two car personal injury crash that occurred on State Rt. 414 the Town of Fayette.  Upon investigating the incident Deputies learned that Jennifer Carroll age 38 of 7045 1st St. Ovid in the of Town of Romulus was north bound when she became distracted and rear ended Timothy Sanpietro age 19 of 5542 McDuffie Town Rd Romulus  when he was  stopped and attempting to turn left onto Yellow Tavern Rd.  Carroll  complained of chest pain. Sanpietro  complained of right leg pain. Both were transported to Geneva General Hospital by North Seneca Ambulance for further medial observation.  Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

DWI / Agg DWI Felony

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office Reports on 04/11/2019 at approximately 01:00 A.M., Deputies arrested Trevon N. Kangumine, 24, of Ovid, for Felony DWI, Aggravated DWI, Obstructing Traffic at an Intersection and Open Container. The arrest stems from an investigation into the report of an unconscious male driver in the middle of an intersection of  Seneca and Main St in Ovid .  After several failed attempts of knocking on the window to wake the driver up, the passenger window had to be smashed in order to wake him up. The driver was Identified as Kangumine and after speaking to Kangumine, he was found to be intoxicated. Kangumine was committed to the Seneca County Correctional Facility and held awaiting arraignment.

Car fire

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports on April 9, 2019 at around 6:30pm, Deputies were dispatched to 8825 State Route 96 in the Town of Covert for the report of a vehicle fire in a garage. Erin Butler, Age 36, of  ( same address ) Interlaken NY was alone in the garage working on his 1978 Fiat when a solenoid sparked and caught the fuel that had come from the carburetor on fire. The engine bay and Erin’s coat were engulfed with flames. Interlaken FD was on scene  and was able to put out most of the fire with a fire extinguisher. FD trucks arrived on scene and put out the rest. Ovid and Lodi Fire Departments were called off from further assistance prior to arrival. Trumansburg Fire Department and ambulance were on scene to assist. No one was injured in the event. The vehicle is covered under the homeowners insurance and will have to cover about $3,000 in damages to the vehicle.

 

Narcotics Arrest

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports, on April 8th, 2019, members of the Narcotics Unit arrested Steven C. Mayo , age 40, of 6960 1st Street, Ovid, N. Y. The arrest stems from an investigation into a larceny of prescription medication from a local business. It is alleged that Mayo stole a controlled substance ( Morphine ) from a local business in the town of Ovid on March 26th 2019. Mayo was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the seventh Degree. Mayo was arraigned at CAP and released. Mayo is to re-appear at a later date to answer the charges.

DWI arrest

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on April 9th 2019 at 04:00 AM deputies arrested Travis M-G Sheldon, 24, of 5571 State Route 96 Romulus NY, at 2202 State Route 96 in the Town of Ovid. Sheldon was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Driving with .08% of 1% or more BAC. The arrest stems from an investigation of a suspicious vehicle and person at the FastTrac store in the Town of Ovid . Sheldon was released on appearance tickets and is to appear in the Town of Ovid Court on May 21st 2019 to answer the charges.

DWI/Property Damage Accident

The Seneca County Sheriff’s office reports that on April 8th 2019 at approx.  7:00 pm Deputies arrested Courtney M Chavez, 24, of 3536 State Route 89 of Fayette. Chavez was charged with DWI BAC of .08 or more, Driving while intoxicated, failed to keep right, and refusal to submit to a breath test. The arrest stems from an investigation into a one car property damage accident where Chavez was found to be traveling southbound on State Route 89 in Canoga and left the West shoulder of the roadway striking a mailbox. Chavez had suffered no injuries , and  the vehicle had minor damage and was towed from the scene.  Chavez was released on appearance tickets and is to appear at the Town of Fayette Court on the 1st of May to answer the charges.

DWI / MVA

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports on April 7th, 2019 at approximately 2:30 A.M. Deputies arrested Robert W. Whitley Jr., age 41, of 5145 E Lake Rd, for Driving While Intoxicated, Driving While Intoxicated with a BAC of .08% or more, and Failure to Keep Right. The arrest stems from a property damage accident that occurred near the intersection of E Lake Rd and Yale Farm Rd. Deputies report that Whitley was traveling southbound on E Lake Rd when he crossed the double solid yellow lines, drove through a front lawn and striking a mailbox. While investigating the accident, Deputies found Whitley to be intoxicated. No injuries were reported and the vehicle sustained heavy damage and was towed from the scene. After being processed at the Sheriff’s Office, Whitley was released on appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear at the Town of Varick Court on May 22nd, 2019 at 7:00 P.M. to answer charges.

County Court Warrant

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports  on 04/04/2019 at 11 AM  Jason R. Hall Age 34 of 37 Ovid St. Seneca Falls was arrested on Seneca County Court Warrant for failing to appear. Hall in to be detained at the Seneca County Jail until the Seneca County Court is again in session.

PI MVA one car

Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports on April 6, 2019 at around 4pm, Deputies responded to Rt 89 in the Town of Covert for a vehicle that was reported to have crashed into multiple objects before coming to a stop, trapping the occupants inside the four door sedan. Deputies arrived and spoke with the occupants, driver Nadine Everton Age 58 and her passenger  Kevin Everton Age 64, both from County Rd 3, Trumansburg NY who were complaining of minor injuries. They had been traveling south on State Route 89 in the Town of Covert when Nadine Everton swerved to miss a squirrel, losing control and going off the road – hitting a DOT sign, NYSEG pole, and a farm tractor for sale by the road, before coming to  rest . Nadine Everton was transported to Cayuga Medical Center by Tburg ambulance for arm pain. Kevin Everton  was transported to Cayuga Medical Center by South Seneca Ambulance for leg pain. NYSEG arrived on scene and fixed the live wire that was torn down from the accident. The vehicle was demolished and towed from the scene.
