Welfare Fraud Arrests

On November 21, 2018, at about 10:14am, Seneca County Sheriff’s Office Investigators arrested William L. Hildreth, age 59, and Tammy Havemann, age 48, both of 4365 West Seneca Road, Trumansburg, New York, following a welfare fraud investigation. Both Hildreth and Havemann were charged with Welfare Fraud in the Fifth Degree, Offering a False Instrument for Filing, and Misuse of Food Stamps. It is alleged that the two failed to disclose household income while receiving benefits from Seneca County. Hildreth and Havemann were issued appearance tickets and are to appear in the Waterloo Village Court on December 5, 2018 at 5:00pm.

Sex Offender Arrest

The Seneca Co. Sheriff’s Office reports that Investigators arrested Carl T. Arden, 48, of 2110 Orchard St., Lodi, N.Y. on 11/20/18 at 4:45 pm for a violation of the NYS Corrections Law regulating Sexual Offenders. Investigators report that Arden was mandated by law to update his photograph every 3 years as Arden is a designated level 1 sex offender. Arden failed to provide his photo to Invstigators and was subsequently arrested after an arrest warrant was issued out of the Lodi Town Court by Justice VanCleef. Arden was held at the LEC to be arraigned in the CAP Court. Arden was released on his own recognizance and will appear on 11/30/18 in the Town of Romulus Court at 4pm for further action.

Bench Warrant

Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports, on 11-17-18 at about 3 AM ,Deputies arrested Karl B Wilcox Jr, 51, of 80 Water St Dundee NY, on a Bench Warrant issued out of the Town of Tyre Court for Failure to Pay Fine on the original charge of Patronizing a Prostitute. Wilcox was committed to the Seneca County Correctional Facility on $500 cash bail, $1,000 secured bond. Wilcox is to reappear in the Town of Tyre Court on a later date to answer the charges

DWI arrest

Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on November 17th 2018 at 01:00 AM,  Deputies arrested Alex W Martinez Lopez, 25, of 9216 Piney Branch Rd Maryland on State Route 96 in the Town of Ovid for Unlawful Possession of Marihuana. It is alleged that Martinez Lopez was in Possession of Marihuana following a routine traffic stop for Failure to Keep Right and Unlicensed Operator. Martinez Lopez was released on an appearance tickets and is to appear in the Town of Ovid Court on December 18th 2018, to answer the charges

Methamphetamine Lab Arrest

On November 12, 2018, at about 10:00am, the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that members of the Narcotics Unit, Criminal Investigation Division, and Road Patrol Division executed a search warrant at 1925 Seneca Road in the Town of Lodi related to the production of methamphetamine. As a result of the search warrant execution, Investigators arrested Kyle G. Clawson, age 41, and Meredith J. Bell, age 42, both residing at the address.

Clawson was charged with the following:

(6cts) Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree- Class D Felonies

Unlawful Manufacture of Methamphetamine in the third degree- Class D Felony

Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the fourth degree- Class E Felony

Criminal Possession of Precursors of Methamphetamine- Class E Felony

Unlawful Disposal of Methamphetamine Laboratory Material- Class E Felony

(2cts) Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the second degree – Class A Misdemeanors

Bell had an active Bench Warrant out of the City of Ithaca Court for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the seventh degree. She was turned over to members of the Ithaca Police Department.

It is alleged that Clawson had been manufacturing methamphetamine while at his residence. Investigators discovered a substantial amount of chemicals and laboratory equipment used in the process of manufacturing methamphetamine. It is also alleged that Clawson possessed multiple long guns and a handgun that were illegally possessed due to Clawson being a convicted felon. It is further alleged that one of the long guns was stolen from Chemung County in 2014. Seneca County Code Enforcement arrived on scene and deemed the property uninhabitable. Further charges are pending after a laboratory analysis of items seized on scene.

Clawson was arraigned in the Seneca County Centralized Arraignment Court and remanded to the Seneca County Correctional Facility on $20,000 cash bail/$40,000 secured bond. Clawson is to reappear in the Lodi Town Court on November 14, 2018 at 12pm.

Members of the Sheriff’s Office were assisted by the Lodi Fire Department, Seneca County Code Enforcement, and New York State Police.

DWI arrest

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on November 11th 2018 at 02:30 AM, Seneca County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Brian J Willis, 32, of 6978 Basswood Rd Auburn NY, after a traffic stop on State Route 318 in the Town of Tyre.  Deputies report that Willis was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Driving with .08% of 1% or more and Speeding. Willis was released on appearance tickets and is to appear in the Town of Tyre Court on December 12th 2018 to answer the charges.

THE SENECA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE REPORTS ON 11/12/18 AT ABOUT 1:30PM  DEPUTIES ARRESTED JOSHUA D. LAWLISS  AGE 35 OF 1230 TOWNLINE RD PHELPS FOR A VIOLATION OF PROBATION WARRANT. DEPUTIES REPORT LAWLISS WAS LOCATED BY WAYNE COUNTY DEPUTIES AND TRANSFERRED TO THE CUSTODY OF SENECA COUNTY DEPUTIES. LAWLISS WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE SENECA COUNTY JAIL WHERE HE WILL APPEAR IN THE CENTRAL ARRAIGNMENT COURT.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MONTH:

October 1st, 2018: NARCO arrested a suspect for selling cocaine in the Town of Waterloo. 

October 2nd, 2018: NARCO arrested 2 suspects for possessing and selling a narcotic medication. 

October 3rd, 2018: NARCO After a lengthy investigation a suspect was apprehended and charged for selling and possessing fentanyl in Seneca County. A quantity of fentanyl was seized. 

October 17th, 2018: A Parole Absconder was apprehended about 35 minutes after escaping from the Sheriff’s Office in Romulus. 

October 23rd, 2018: NARCO apprehended and charged a suspect that has allegedly been selling heroin and fentanyl in Seneca County. 40 baggies of fentanyl were seized.

October 23rd, 2018: An 11 year old child was seriously injured in a farm accident in the Town of Tyre. The investigation is continuing.

October 2018: The exterior of the Sheriff’s Office was lit with purple flood lights in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness month.

October 2018: Workforce Development and the Youth Bureau implemented a new “Skills for Success” program in the jail. 10 inmates completed the program.

Unauthorized Use of MV

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on 11/01/18 at around 3:00pm, Deputies arrested two juveniles, 13 years old and 12 years old, as Juvenile Delinquents for a Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle case. The arrest stems from an investigation of the report of a stolen vehicle and missing juveniles from The Hillside Childrens campus in Varick  on 10/31/18 at around 10:45pm.  Deputies report that the juveniles had gotten the key to the vehicle , and were able to leave the area. The vehicle was believed to have been spotted on Rt 5 in the Border City area shortly thereafter , and Deputies searched the area but were able to locate the vehicle or suspects.  Deputies report that at about 230AM on 11/01/18 the  juveniles were located on the New York State Thruway near Exit 29 after the juveniles crashed the vehicle. The juveniles were transported to St Marys Hospital in Canajoharie ,where they were treated for minor injuries and later  released. The juveniles were then brought back to Seneca County and issued appearance tickets,  to appear in Family court at a later date to answer charges. The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Waterloo Village Police and New York State Troopers.

Aggravated DWI

The Seneca County Sheriff’s office reports that on November 08, 2018,at 4:44 PM, Seneca County Deputies arrested Sara Ann Landen, Age 39, of 5871 Shawnee Rd NY, on St Rt 414 in the Town of Tyre. Landen was charged with Driving while intoxicated, Aggravated Driving while intoxicated, Open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and Refusal to submit to a roadside breath test.

Deputies report that the arrest stems from a complaint of an intoxicated driver.  Landen was arraigned on the charges and was remanded to the Seneca County correctional facility on $500 cash or $1000 secure bond. Landen is to appear before the Town of Tyre Court on November 13th at 9am to answer the charges.
