Fugitive from Justice Arrest

On February 12, 2019, at about 11:00am, Seneca County Sheriff’s Investigators arrested Maria V. Castro, age 31, of 350 Waterloo-Geneva Road, Apartment 6, Waterloo, New York, as a Fugitive from Justice.  Castro is currently remanded to the Seneca County Correctional Facility on other matters and is currently wanted by the FBI for Distribution of Controlled Substances in Puerto Rico.  Castro was arraigned in the Seneca County Centralized Arraignment Court and remanded back to the Correctional Facility without bail.  Castro will be turned over to the FBI at a later date.

TRAVEL ADVISORY

Seneca County Sheriff Luce has set a travel advisory for Seneca County to last until Midnight tonight.  The roads are snow covered and slippery but passable at this time. Winds will pick up later causing drifting with freezing rain around 3:00 P.M. The Sheriff asks for no unnecessary travel until Wednesday morning.  Please remember if you have to travel to make sure your vehicle is in good repair and you have extra clothing and emergency supplies in case you get stuck or break down. Deputies and highway workers will continue to monitor the road conditions and update when needed.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MONTH: 

January 4th, 2019: The Sheriff’s Office annual awards ceremony was held. Investigator Mike Strohm was honored as Officer of the Year.

January 8th, 2019: Deputies responded to a fatal motor vehicle accident on Route 96 in Romulus.

January 14th, 2019: Investigations charged 2 suspects with Grand Larceny and Identity Theft in the Town of Waterloo.

January 15th, 2019: Deputies arrested a man for possessing cocaine in the Town of Tyre.

January 18th, 2019: An inmate was charged with felony assault for attacking a Corrections Officer.

January 19th, 2019: Several Deputies and Corrections Officers were detailed to Seneca Falls to assist with the Women’s March.

January 21st, 2019: Investigators responded to Brooklyn N.Y. to apprehend a suspect on a Grand Larceny and Fraud case from the Outlet Center in the Town of Junius.

January 23rd, 2019: The D.A.R.E program at the Hillside Children’s Center in the Town of Varick was concluded. Ten students completed the program.

Criminal Contempt 1st / Agg Family Offense

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on 02/10/2019 at approximately 4:00 am, Deputies arrested Davonne R. Simeon, 27, of Ithaca, NY for Criminal Contempt in the 1st Degree and Aggravated Family Offense. The arrest stems from a Welfare Check at the victims residence where it is alleged that Simeon violated a Class A Order of Protection by being at the protected party’s residence. Simeon was arraigned at the Centralized Arraignment Court and committed on $1000 cash /$2000 bail bond and is to appear at Town Romulus Court at a later date.

Bench Warrant arrest

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on 02/07/2019 at 01:44pm   Deputies arrested Marcus A. Scott age 19 of   6 Hawley St, NY on a Bench Warrant for failure to appear on charges of petit larceny, conspiracy and trespass out of the Town of Romulus.  Scott is to appear in Romulus at a later date and time.

warrant – violation of probation

Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on February 6th 2019 at 01:30 AM Deputies arrested Adolphus Nelson III, 43, of 45 Richmond Ave Apt 16 Buffalo NY for a Violation of Probation Warrant on the original charge of Felony Driving While Intoxicated and Felony Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 1st Degree.  Deputies report Nelson was committed to the Seneca County Correctional Facility awaiting arraignment.        18SH00925

Narcotics Arrest

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on February 6th, 2019, members of the Narcotics Unit aided by members of the Criminal Investigation Division, Road Patrol Division, New York State Police, and Seneca Falls Police Department executed a search warrant at 25 Peterman Road, Apartment B-2, in the Town of Seneca Falls. As a result of the ongoing investigation and search warrant execution, Sheriff’s Investigators charged William F. London, age 21, and Yritza Cendeno, age 21, both of that address, with multiple crimes.

London was charged with:

Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree (two counts), Class B Felonies
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree (two counts), Class B Felonies Criminal Nuisance in the First Degree, a Class E Felony
Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor

Cendeno was charged with:

Criminal Nuisance in the First Degree, a Class E Felony
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor

It is alleged that London sold crack cocaine in the Town of Seneca Falls on at least two occasions. The search warrant resulted in the discovery of a quantity of United States Currency, a quantity of crack cocaine, packaging material commonly used to package illicit drugs, and a digital scale. Both London and Cendeno are being held at the Seneca County Correctional Facility awaiting arraignment in the Seneca County Centralized Arraignment Court.

Welfare Fraud Arrest

On February 1, 2019, at about 3:00pm, Seneca County Sheriff’s Investigators arrested Erik M. Suess, age 47, of 4093 West Seneca Road, Trumansburg, New York, following a Welfare Fraud investigation. It is alleged that Suess failed to disclose household income in September of 2018 while receiving monetary benefits from Seneca County. Suess was charged with Welfare Fraud in the Fifth Degree and Misuse of Food Stamps. Suess was issued appearance tickets and is to appear in the Village of Waterloo Court on February 6th 2019 at 5:00pm.

Warrant- unlawfully dealing w child 1st

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on 02/04/19 at approx. 1000 hrs Deputies arrested Philip M Campbell,27, of Munson Rd  Interlaken on an arrest warrant for unlawfully dealing with a child in the 1st degree and Criminal possession of marijuana in the 4th degree. The arrest stems from an incident in which Deputies responded to a home in Covert  on 10/07/18 for a complaint . While there they located marijuana inside the home which was easily accessible to children who were under the age of 16 . At arraignment Campbell agreed to a plea deal with the District attorney’s office and plead guilty to unlawfully dealing with a child in the 1st degree. Campbell was sentenced to six months in jail to be ran concurrent with the State time he is currently serving out of Tompkins County on an unrelated matter.  CR18SH10768

 

 

Agg DWI / Reckless driving/ failed to comply w police officer

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on February 3rd 2019 at 12:45 AM, Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Cassie M Mcghan, 25, of 9 Anthony Dr Seneca Falls NY in the Town of Tyre. Mcghan was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated DWI-Blood Alcohol Content .18 or Higher, Reckless Driving, Failure To Comply with a Police Officer, Failure to Keep Right and Inadequate headlights. Deputies report that Mcghan was stopped at Gravel Rd and ST RT 318 without any headlights on. When  Deputies attempted to stop Mcghan , she  failed to stop – leading Deputies on a short pursuit, during the pursuit it is alleged that Mcghan was driving into oncoming traffic before losing control and entering into a snow filled ditch. Deputies report that there were no injuries from this incident. Mcghan was committed to the Seneca County Correctional Facility awaiting arraignment for the charges.    – 19SH01234
