The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports on March 14, 2021 at approximately 12:05am, Sheriff’s Deputies while on patrol , discovered a single car motor vehicle accident on State Route 96 in the Town of Ovid. The single occupant, identified as Erin Taylor, age 47, of 2117 Water Street, Ovid was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated after failing a series of standard field sobriety tests. Deputies report Taylor was southbound on Rt 96 when she crossed over the road and went into the ditch on the east side of Rt 96. Taylor was issued traffic citations for failing to keep right, driving while intoxicated, and aggravated driving while intoxicated. Taylor was released on appearance tickets and is to answer to the charges on March 16 in Ovid Town Court.
The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on March 09, 2021 at about 8:15 pm, Deputies responded to State Route 336 in the Town of Varick for a an Order of Protection Violation Complaint. Deputies report the Suspect, Michael Mclean age 41 of 55 W Bayard St Seneca Falls, was located at the residence of the Order’s protected party , in Violation of a Class A Order of Protection out of the Varick Town Court. Deputies placed Mclean into custody for Criminal Contempt in the 2nd degree and he was brought to the Seneca County Correctional Facility and arraigned in CAP court .
The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports on 2/22/21 at 9:50 AM Deputies responded to 2539 Vineyard Rd in Romulus for a structure fire. The owners of the farm, Stephen and Fannie Hertzler, called 911 reporting a work shop was fully engulfed in flames and that a barn with 11,000 chickens was next to the blaze. Romulus Fire Department arrived and were assisted on scene by Ovid Fire Department, Varick Fire Department, Fayette Fire Department, Interlaken Fire Department, Waterloo Fire Department, Border City Fire and South Seneca Ambulance and the Seneca County 911 center. The work shop, along with several dogs and cows and equipment, was unsalvageable and a total loss of over $150,000. The barn with the 11,000 chickens was slightly damaged with no loss of livestock. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Feb 3rd 2021 at around 12:15 am, Deputies arrested Nicholas W Andrews, age 35, of Oxford, NY. Deputies responded to a Fayette residence for the report of a domestic dispute. Deputies report Andrews grabbed and threatened the victim and broke items in the residence during the incident . Andrews was taken into custody without incident and was charged with Criminal Mischief 4th, Unlawful Imprisonment 2nd Degree, Coercion 2nd Degree, and Harassment 2nd. Andrews was arraigned in CAP Court and released to appear in Fayette Town court at a later date.
The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports on January 31, 2021 at about 3pm, Deputies arrested Cassidy J Ward, age 37, of Seneca Falls NY, on an arrest warrant from the Town of Tyre Court . Deputies report Ward was charged with Aggravated family offense , Menacing 2nd , Harassment 2nd and 2 counts of endangering the welfare of a child . The charges stem from an incident that occurred on January 22, 2021, in which Ward allegedly entered a residence in the Town of Tyre and aggressively confronted the victim in front of her children, including threatening her life with a firearm. Ward left the residence and an Arrest Warrant was obtained after he was unable to be located . On Jan 31 st, members of the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, Seneca Falls Police Department, New York State Parole, and the U.S. Marshalls located Ward in a residence in the Town of Tyre and took him into custody without incident. Ward was arraigned at 7pm the same day at the Seneca County CAP Court, and held on no bail along with a parole detainer.
The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports on January 28, 2021 at 6PM, Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Freddy Sapp, Age 56, of Geneva New York, on an arrest warrant for Criminal Contempt in the first degree. Deputies state the charge stems from an investigation on November 28, 2020 in which Sapp communicated with a subject in the Town of Waterloo , who he had a Order of Protection to have no contact with. Sapp was arraigned on January 28, 2021 at 7pm at the Seneca Co. CAP Court and then transported back to Ontario County Jail where he is currently sentenced to prison on a separate charge.
The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports, on January 15, 2021, Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Aaron J. Vanopdurp, age 28 of 24 Queen Street, Lyons, NY. Vanopdurp was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor. While investigating a suspicious complaint at a housing complex in Tyre, Deputies discovered that Vanopdurp had a small amount of heroin on his person. Vanopdurp was processed released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Tyre Court at a later date.
The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on January 17, 2021 at 6:00 PM Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Jessica Jones, 33, of 1406 Levanna Road, Union Springs NY, at The Waterloo Premium Outlets in the Town of Junius for two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree and Criminal impersonation. Deputies report that during the course of a larceny investigation , Jones gave Deputies a false name and date of birth and also was found to be in possession of controlled substances . Jones was released on appearance tickets and is to appear in the Town of Junius Court on February 12, 2020 to answer the charges.
The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports on Jan 7th 2021 at about 3:15 pm Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a residence in the Town of Waterloo for a domestic incident. Upon further investigation , Deputies arrested Jacob M Dixon age 29 of 2551 Brewer Rd Waterloo for Criminal Contempt 2nd after finding he was with a subject in which a stay away order of protection was in place. Dixon was arraigned at CAP court and released to appear in Waterloo Town Court . Then on Jan 13 2021 at about 12:30 pm, while at the County Office Building in the Village of Waterloo , Deputies discovered Dixon to again be with the same subject to which he still had an order of protection to stay away from. Dixon was again charged with Criminal Contempt in the 2nd degree and was arraigned at CAP court and committed on $500 cash bail to appear in the Village of Waterloo court on that charge.
The Seneca County Sheriff ‘s office reports that on Jan 8 2021 at about 2:30 pm Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Jayden D. Carr 21 of Rochester NY. The arrest stems from two separate incidents that occurred back in August 2020. It’s alleged that on Aug 5 2020 Carr stole a vehicle from a residence in the Town of Waterloo. Carr was also involved in another incident on August 9th 2020, in which a window was broken at a Waterloo residence. Sheriff’s Deputies report that arrest warrants were issued on both cases. Deputies charged Carr with Felony Grand Larceny, Unauthorized use of a Motor Vehicle, and Criminal Mischief. He was processed at Seneca County Correctional Facility and arraigned at CAP Court, and released to appear in Waterloo Town Court at a later date.
