Harrassment

The Seneca Count Sheriff Tim Luce reports that on July 8th 2022 around 2:00pm Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Miguel DeJesus 25 of Waterloo N.Y. for Harassment 2nd Physical Contact. The arrest stems from a domestic incident that occurred at a residence in the Town of Waterloo around 11:00am and is alleged that DeJesus engaged in a physical altercation that caused injuries to the victim. DeJesus sustained minor lacerations and was treated at a local hospital and released. DeJesus was arrested and transported to the LEC and is awaiting arraignment. A order or protection was requested on behalf of the victim.

Larceny

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on June 30, 2022 at around 1:30 p.m., Deputies responded to 510 Rte 318 and placed 32 year old Cherie E. Smith of Junius under arrest following an investigation into a Theft on Ninefoot Road in the Town of Junius on June 25, 2022. Smith was transported to the Law Enforcement Center in Romulus where she was processed and released on an appearance ticket.

Endangering the welfare of a child/ resisting arrest

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on June 28, 2022 at around 6:00 p.m., Deputies took 43 year old Jacob C. Hoffa of Waterloo into custody at the Law Enforcement Center in Romulus when he turned himself in for the charges of Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Resisting Arrests. Hoffa was handed over to the Seneca County Jail where he was processed and arraigned on the charges. 22SH10807. 146

Bench Warrant

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on 6/29/2022, Wayna A. King, D.O.B. 6/9/2001, of 35 Mynderse Street Seneca Falls NY, was arrested on an arrest warrant from the Town of Waterloo Court, for violation of a conditional discharge. King was arrested on warrants out of the Town of Seneca Falls Court as well. King was turned over to corrections to await CAP court arraignment for all the charges on 6/29/2022 at 19:00 hours.

Criminal Contempt

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on June 24, 2022 at around 4:15 p.m., Deputies responded to the Barrington Apartments in Seneca Falls for a reported Order of Protection Violation. As a result of the investigation, 42 year old Michael R. McLean of Seneca Falls was placed under arrest for Criminal Contempt 1st and Aggravated Family Offense. McLean was handed over to the Seneca County Jail for processing and arraignment. 22SH10751. 146

Missing person/ Stolen vehicle

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on 5/30/2022 at approximately 7:30 pm, deputies responded to assist the New York State Police with the report of a missing Juvenile from the Town of Junius. While deputies were assisting with locating the juvenile, they received a call reporting a stolen vehicle from a residence in the Town of Junius. Deputies were able to locate the stolen vehicle at 1041 State Route 414 in Wayne County. The vehicle which was being operated by a Town of Junius Juvenile then left the driveway of the residence it was at. Deputies attempted to block the vehicle but were unable to contain it within the driveway. The vehicle then traveled southbound at a high rate of speed where Deputies observed it straddling the center line of the road and driving into the oncoming lane creating an extremely dangerous traffic hazard. Deputies remained at a safe distance in an attempt to get the Juvenile to slow down but the vehicle continued at a high rate of speed until it collided with the rear axle of a tractor trailer at the New York State Thruway exit. The juvenile was assessed by North Seneca Ambulance and flown by Life Net to Strong Memorial Hospital for further treatment. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured. The investigation is still active. Assisting on the scene was New York State Police, Waterloo Police Department, Seneca Falls Police Department, Clyde Fire Department and North Seneca Ambulance.

Endangering the welfare of a child

he Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Wednesday May 25th, 2022 at around 5:00am, Deputies arrested 22 year old Matthew R. Conlin of 311 Hoffman Street Newark, New York following a traffic stop in the Town of Varick, New York. It was made known to deputies during their roadside investigation that Conlin had allowed a 15 year old male who did not have a driver’s license, to operate the motor vehicle on a state roadway and did operate said vehicle in an erratic state prior to being pulled over. Conlin was subsequently arrested and charged with Endangering the welfare of a child, a Class A Misdemeanor. Conlin was then transported to the Seneca County Correctional Facility where he was processed and released with an appearance ticket. Conlin is to appear in Varick Town Court at a later date to answer the charge.

MVA

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Friday April 29th, 2022 at around 11:15pm, Deputies responded to the area of County Road 132A and State Route 96A in the Town of Romulus for the report of a Personal Injury Rollover Crash with a single Jeep involved. Deputies were advised that the driver fled from the scene on foot. Upon further Investigation, Deputies identified Taylor B. Eggleston, age 26 of 4 Railroad Street, Jordan, New York as the driver and sole occupant of the involved vehicle. Eggleston was checked over and released by South Seneca Ambulance. It was apparent that alcohol was a contributing factor in the cause of the crash. Joseph Capalongo, age 36 of 124 Cayuga Street, Seneca Falls, New York, while not directly involved in the crash, did assist Eggleston in fleeing the scene. Eggleston and Capalongo were issued multiple Uniform Traffic Tickets for the Town of Romulus Court and will answer to the charges at a later date. New York State Police, Ovid fire Department and South Seneca Ambulance assisted on scene.

Larceny/criminal mischief/ AUO

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on April 29, 2022 at around 10:47 p.m., Deputies responded to 29 Inslee Street in the Village of Waterloo and arrested 25 year old Kenneth D. Saunders Jr. at his house in connection to a Larceny at the Wet, White, and Blue car wash in Ovid. Saunders was caught on a Wet, White, and Blue car wash security camera drilling out one of the locks on one of the car wash’s change machines. An investigation showed that Saunders was able to steal approximately five dollars in change as a result of the Larceny. Saunders was transported to the Seneca County Law Enforcement Center where he was processed and released on an Appearance Ticket for the charges of Petit Larceny, Criminal Mischief, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and Possession of Burglar’s Tools. Saunders is due to report to the Ovid Town Court in mid-May to answer for the charges against him. 22SH08096. 146.

PI MVA

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on April 29, 2022 at around 5:30 p.m., Deputies responded to the area of 676 Gravel Road in Tyre for a single vehicle personal injury accident. The vehicle involved in the accident was a White 2012 Hyundai Sonata sedan, and it was being operated by the registered owner, 47 year old Michael E. Lofft of 810 Gravel Road in Seneca Falls. An investigation into the accident showed that the vehicle was entering a curve in the roadway as it was traveling South on Gravel Road. The vehicle was traveling too fast to negotiate the curve and ended up leaving the roadway. After leaving the roadway, the vehicle collided with a mailbox and a tree. After impacting the tree and the mailbox, the vehicle proceeded to roll until it came to rest with the roof down along the West side of the roadway. There was evidence that pointed to the fact that Lofft may have been intoxicated at the time of the accident. Lofft sustained some superficial scrapes to his arms as a result of the crash. Lofft was transported by North Seneca Ambulance to Geneva General Hospital due to a Diabetic issue that he was experiencing after the crash. A blood sample was taken from Lofft by Geneva General’s ER staff and handed over to Deputies for analysis. There are pending charges as a result of the investigation into the crash.
