Bench Warrant

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports on 9/7/22 at 11:16 AM Deputies arrested Craig M. Kaufman, age 39 of Romulus, on a Bench Warrant out of Seneca County Court. Deputies state the Warrant was issued by the Honorable Judge Porsch after Kaufman was late to his court date on 9/7/22. The proceedings pertained to a prior arrest where Kaufman was charged with 32 separate counts all in relation to Criminal Sex Acts against a person under the age of 11 years old. Kaufman was remanded to the Seneca County Jail where he will remain in the Sheriff’s custody until further proceedings.


The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on 08-15-2022 Richard Bruce, 41 years old, of Fayette New York was arrested following an investigation into Domestic Incidents that occurred on August 14th and the 15th. Bruce was charged with two counts of Criminal Mischief 4th, two counts of Unlawful Imprisonment, two counts of Menacing 2nd, two counts of Harassment 2nd, two counts of Aggravated Family Offense, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th. Bruce was transported to the Seneca County Correctional Facility to be held for arraignment. At arraignment Bruce was held without bail, and an Order of Protection was issued. Bruce is to appear in the Town of Fayette Court at a later date.


The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports on 8/18/22 at 11:18 AM Deputies arrested Dezirae J. Martin, age 21 of Rochester, on an Arrest Warrant. Deputies state Martin came to the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office and turned herself in. The Warrant stems from a petit larceny and conspiracy 6th charge after a larceny investigation at a Town of Junius business on 5/23/22. After Martin was released on appearance tickets she failed to appear on her original charges in the Town of Junius Court and a Warrant was filed. Martin was turned over to the Seneca County Jail to await CAP court.


The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on August 15, 2022 at around 7:50 p.m., Deputies responded to a residence on Yost Road in the Town of Fayette and took 41 year old Richard D. Bruce into custody on a warrant for the charges of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree, Aggravated Family Offense, Menacing in the 2nd Degree, Unlawful Imprisonment in the 2nd Degree, Harassment in the 2nd Degree, and Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree. The charges stemmed from a two-day long physical domestic incident between Bruce and and a Town of Fayette resident that began on August 14, 2022. As a result of the domestic incident, the victim sustained multiple injuries. Bruce was transported to the Seneca County Jail where he was handed over for processing and arraignment at the Seneca County CAP Court on August 16, 2022. Bruce was also charged with Criminal Contempt in the 2nd Degree and Aggravated Family Offense the following day while he was inside the Seneca County Correctional Facility. Those charges were filed against Bruce when he attempted to contact the victim in the domestic incident from the two days prior after being served with an Order of Protection at his arraignment ordering him to stay away from the victim and refrain from attempting any contact with the victim. Bruce was arraigned in the Seneca County CAP Court on August 17, 2022 for the new charges. 22SH12812 and 22SH12856. 146.

Crim. Poss. of a weapon

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on August 4, 2022 at around 9:00 p.m., Deputies responded to 393 Wagner Street Lot #82 and took 55 year old David A. Fish of Waterloo into custody on the charge of Criminal Possession of a Weapon. The charge stemmed from an investigation into a domestic incident that was reported a few days earlier at the Wagner Street address. The weapon that was confiscated, a 12 gauge Shotgun belonging to Fish, was not used in the domestic incident. Fish is a convicted Felon which made possessing the shotgun a criminal offense. Fish was transported to the LEC where he was processed and released on an appearance ticket. 22SH12148. 146

Criminal Mischief

Seneca County Sheriff’s reports that on 8/10/2022 at approx. 2000hrs deputies arrested Joslyn N Solomon, 26 of Geneva for Criminal Mischief in the 4th degree. The arrest stems from an incident where deputies were called to a business in the Town of Waterloo on 08/02/2022 from a report of damage done to property. Upon investigation it is alleged that Solomon recklessly caused damage to said property. Solomon was issued an appearance ticket and is to appear in the Town of Waterloo Court on 8/24/2022 at 1700 hrs to answer to the charges. 22SH12287

Aggravated Harassment

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports on 8/7/22 at 11:01 AM Deputies arrested Ernest L. Voorheis, Age 59 of Lodi, for Aggravated Harassment in the Second Degree, a class A Misdemeanor. The incident occurred on 7/18/22 where it is alleged Voorheis harassed the victim via telephone (text) threatening harm to the victim and their property. The NYSP located Voorheis the morning of 8/7/22, for unrelated charges, and Deputies placed Voorheis into custody and turned him over to the Seneca County Correctional Facility to await CAP Court. Deputies requested an order of protection on the victim’s behalf.


On 08/06/22 at 11:30 p.m. the Seneca County Sheriff Deputies responded to 508 State Route 89 in the Town of Tyre for a Disorderly Conduct Complaint. When the Deputies arrived on scene they discovered that Mathew Palmer, 23, of 1177 State Route 14, Lyons, NY, had touched a 17 yr old female without her consent. Deputies arrested and Charged Palmer for Harassment in the 2nd degree. Palmer was brought to the Seneca County Law Enforcement Center to await CAP Court. The Seneca County Sheriff’s Department put in a request for an Order of Protection against Palmer for the 17 yr old female.

Menacing/criminal mischief

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on July 27th, 2022 at around 1:30 pm Deputies arrested Ernest F. Sorber, 18 years old, of 2045 West Seneca Street in Ovid. The arrest is the result of an investigation of a domestic incident were it is alleged that Sorber menaced a family member with a weapon and damaged property. Sorber was charged with Criminal Mischief 3rd, Menacing 2nd, and Harassment 2nd. Sorber was transported to the Seneca County Correctional Facility where he was held for Centralized Arraignment.


The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a one- car motor vehicle accident that occurred on County Road 138 in the Town of Ovid early afternoon on the 25th of July 2022. Deputies arrived on scene and located a 2019 Toyota Tundra resting on a culvert pipe connecting Moorehouse Rd and CR 138. The vehicle involved appeared to have sustained heavy damage. The vehicle operator was identified as Philip Nelson 61, from Maine NY. Other motorists who witnessed the accident stated that Nelson’s truck was traveling west on CR 138 when it “ Just drifted across the road” striking the ditch on the South side of CR 138 and flipped 2 times before coming to a rest on the culvert pipe. Nelson suffered non -life threatening injuries and was transported to Cayuga Medical Center via South Seneca Ambulance. The cause of the accident is still under investigation. Seneca County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Ovid Fire Department, NYSP, South Seneca Ambulance and Route 89 Auto.
