Fire in the Town of Romulus

Seneca County Sheriff’ Tim Thompson reports that on 4/3/2024 @ 19:41 hours, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to 2198 Yerkes Rd Romulus, NY 14541 for the report of a house fire.

Upon Deputies’ arrival it was found that it was not a house, but rather a food storage building which had a compressor for the freezer that had an apparent malfunction and caught fire.

Damage was limited to the compressor and reported to be about $2,000. Romulus fire was assisted by Ovid Fire, Fayette Fire, Varick Fire, South Seneca Ambulance, and North Seneca Ambulance.

Theft Town of Junius

Seneca County Sheriff Tim Thompson reports that on April 7, 2024, at approximately 5:00 P.M., Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Beth Geiger, 45, and Rebecca Hughes, 55, of Auburn NY for Petit Larceny, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 5th Degree and Conspiracy in the 6th Degree.

The Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a business in the Town of Junius after receiving a call that multiple individuals were attempting to steal items. When Deputies arrived on scene, they quickly located the suspects that were involved. During an investigation Hughes and Geiger were found to be in possession of property belonging to the business. Both Suspects were arrested and charged. Hughes and Geiger were given an appearance ticket to report to Junius Town Court to answer the charges.

Warrant Arrest

Seneca County Sheriff Tim Thompson reports that on 04/03/2024 at around 10:16 AM, Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Michele M. Vargason age 32, of Phoenix, NY in the Town of Jamesville, NY on warrant for a Violation of Probation.

The arrest stems from an incident where it is alleged that Vargason failed to comply with the terms of pre-trial release.

Vargason was turned over to the Seneca County Correctional Facility and to await CAP court.

Reckless Endangerment Arrest, Town of Tyre

On April 3rd, 2024, at about 11:57AM, Deputies arrested Robert J Bush JR, aged 40, of Port Byron, for Reckless endangerment, Criminal Mischief and several NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law violations (Unsafe Backing, Unsafe Tire and leaving the scene of a property damage accident)

The arrest stems from a report that as a repo agent was attempting to repossess a vehicle being operated by Bush Jr, he nearly ran over one of the repo agents and then struck both repossession agent’s vehicles, causing damage. Bush JR then fled the scene of the accident, traveling from the Petro Truck stop located in Tyre NY, before coming to a stop at Circle K located at State Route 5 and Route 90 in Cayuga County.

Bush JR was taken into custody without issue and processed at the Seneca County Law Enforcement Center. He is to answer the above criminal charges and traffic citations in the Town of Tyre court at a later date.

Warrant Arrest Waterloo

Seneca County Sheriff Tim Thompson reports that on April 2nd, 2024 at around 10:30 AM Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Mykel Wing age 34, of 17 South Seneca Street in the Village of Waterloo on a Family Court Warrant. 

Deputies responded to Wing’s address where he was located and taken into custody without incident. Wing was then brought before the Seneca County Family Court where he was remanded to the Seneca County Correctional Facility on 5,000 cash bail.  

Dispute Arrest, Town of Junius

Seneca County Sheriff Tim Thompson reports that on 04/02/24 at around 0022 Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Christopher C, Pagano, age 26, of Seneca Falls NY on Harassment in the 2nd Degree, three counts of Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

The arrest stems from an incident in which Deputies were called to a possible dispute that had occurred in a moving vehicle in the Town of Junius. Deputies were able to locate the vehicle which had pulled over at a residence. After a subsequent investigation on scene, it was determined that Pagano allegedly struck another person breaking their glasses in the process. When the other party attempted to call 911 Pagano allegedly took the phone preventing the 911 call and broke the cell phone. This incident occurred while in the presence of two children.

Pagano was taken into custody and transported to the Seneca County Correctional Facility to await arraignment. An Order of Protection was requested on behalf of the victim.

Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle

Seneca County Sheriff Tim Thompson reports that on March 28th, 2024, Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Michael E. Lofft 49 of Tyre, NY, in the Town of Seneca Falls for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd Degree.

The arrest stems from an incident that occurred on March 28, 2024, at a residence located in the Town of Tyre. It is alleged that Lofft took a vehicle without having consent. Lofft was located operating the vehicle around 12:35 pm in the Town of Seneca Falls and subsequently taken into custody without incident.

Lofft was arrested, processed, and issued an appearance ticket. Lofft is scheduled to appear in Tyre Town Court on April 10th, 2024, at 4:00 PM. Seneca County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Seneca Falls Police Department, Waterloo Police Department, and the New York State Police.

Harassment Arrest, Town of Fayette

Seneca County Sheriff Tim Thompson reports that on March 29, 2024, at around 12: 26 am Deputies arrested Herbert Rivera, age 56, of Fayette NY, in the Town of Fayette on charges of Harassment in the 2nd Degree. 

The arrest stemmed from an incident in which Deputies were called to a residence for a dispute in progress.  A subsequent investigation found that Rivera allegedly subjected another person at the residence to unwanted physical contact causing them to fall to the ground multiple times. 

Rivera was placed into custody and transported to the Seneca County Correctional Facility where he was processed and turned over to Corrections staff to await CAP court arraignment. An Order of Protection was requested on behalf of the victim.

DWI Arrest in the Town of Seneca Falls

Seneca County Sheriff Tim Thompson reports that on March 31st, 2024, at approximately 3:39 AM Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Jeffrey Salone, age 34, of 3074 Johnson Road Geneva, NY 14456 in the Town of Seneca Falls for Driving while intoxicated (misdemeanor) and speed in zone (violation).

The arrest stems from a traffic stop where it is alleged that Salone was observed operating a vehicle at speeds over 100 MPH. Deputies conducted a traffic stop and after an investigation Salone was taken into custody.

Salone was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Seneca Falls on May 2nd, 2024, at 12:00 PM to answer the charges.

DWI Arrest in the Town of Covert

Seneca County Sheriff Tim Thompson reports that on March 31st, 2024, at approximately 1:43 am hours, Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Anna N. Dickens, age 28, of Blew Road, Ovid NY in the Town of Covert for Driving while intoxicated (misdemeanor) and speed in zone (violation).

The arrest stems from a traffic stop where it is alleged that Dickens was observed operating a vehicle at speeds over 80 MPH. Deputies conducted a traffic stop and after an investigation Dickens was taken into custody.

Dickens was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear before the Town of Covert Court on May 10th, 2024, to answer the charge(s).
