Arrest Made in Infant Assault Case

November 10th, 2021 4:15 PM: Seneca County Sheriff’s Office Investigators arrested an Ovid man for numerous charges that stem from a child abuse allegation. Arrested was Jeremy Andrews, age 27, of 2135 Water Street, Apt #4, Ovid NY. Charges are: Reckless Assault of a Child (D felony), Assault in the 2nd degree (D felony) and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. It is alleged that Andrews caused serious injuries to a child in his care who was less than 5 years old. Injuries sustained include subdural hemorrhage of the brain and a broken femur.

Andrews was arraigned before the Seneca County CAP Court and committed to the Seneca County Correctional Facility on $20,000 cash, $10,000 bail bond. An Order of Protection was issued. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 15th, 2021 in the Town of Ovid Court.

The investigation is continuing. The Seneca County Child Protection Unit is assisting.
