The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on December 14th 2019 at approximately 1:06pm, Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 24 year old Travis M-G Sheldon of 4200 Decamp Rd in Dundee N.Y. for two counts of endangering the welfare of a child along with numerous vehicle and traffic offenses. Deputies report that while on patrol on Main street in the Village of Interlaken, a Deputy observed Sheldon pass them with an expired inspection on his vehicle. As Deputies turned around, Sheldon took off at a high rate of speed in an attempt to evade police. Sheldon turned onto Cayuga St in the village of Interlaken and reached speeds in excess of 90mph in the 30mph village speed zone. Sheldon continued eastbound on Cayuga street at a high rate of speed until he came to an abrupt stop on Powell Rd. and surrendered to Deputies. Upon approaching the vehicle Deputies observed that Sheldon had two rear seat passengers, ages one and three. Sheldon was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle 2nd for operating on a revoked license from prior DWI arrests, operating w/o ignition interlock, Reckless driving, speeding (93/30), unlicensed operator, improper turning signal and uninspected motor vehicle. Sheldon was also charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Both children were uninjured in the incident and were released to their mother. Sheldon was held at the Seneca County Correctional facility where he was arraigned in C.A.P. court. He was later released to appear in the Town of Covert Court on a later date.
