The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on April 29, 2022 at around 5:30 p.m., Deputies responded to the area of 676 Gravel Road in Tyre for a single vehicle personal injury accident. The vehicle involved in the accident was a White 2012 Hyundai Sonata sedan, and it was being operated by the registered owner, 47 year old Michael E. Lofft of 810 Gravel Road in Seneca Falls. An investigation into the accident showed that the vehicle was entering a curve in the roadway as it was traveling South on Gravel Road. The vehicle was traveling too fast to negotiate the curve and ended up leaving the roadway. After leaving the roadway, the vehicle collided with a mailbox and a tree. After impacting the tree and the mailbox, the vehicle proceeded to roll until it came to rest with the roof down along the West side of the roadway. There was evidence that pointed to the fact that Lofft may have been intoxicated at the time of the accident. Lofft sustained some superficial scrapes to his arms as a result of the crash. Lofft was transported by North Seneca Ambulance to Geneva General Hospital due to a Diabetic issue that he was experiencing after the crash. A blood sample was taken from Lofft by Geneva General’s ER staff and handed over to Deputies for analysis. There are pending charges as a result of the investigation into the crash. Assisting on scene were members of the New York State Police, North Seneca Ambulance, and Clyde Fire Department. 22SH08089. 146
