The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on 5/30/2022 at approximately 7:30 pm, deputies responded to assist the New York State Police with the report of a missing Juvenile from the Town of Junius. While deputies were assisting with locating the juvenile, they received a call reporting a stolen vehicle from a residence in the Town of Junius. Deputies were able to locate the stolen vehicle at 1041 State Route 414 in Wayne County. The vehicle which was being operated by a Town of Junius Juvenile then left the driveway of the residence it was at. Deputies attempted to block the vehicle but were unable to contain it within the driveway. The vehicle then traveled southbound at a high rate of speed where Deputies observed it straddling the center line of the road and driving into the oncoming lane creating an extremely dangerous traffic hazard. Deputies remained at a safe distance in an attempt to get the Juvenile to slow down but the vehicle continued at a high rate of speed until it collided with the rear axle of a tractor trailer at the New York State Thruway exit. The juvenile was assessed by North Seneca Ambulance and flown by Life Net to Strong Memorial Hospital for further treatment. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured. The investigation is still active. Assisting on the scene was New York State Police, Waterloo Police Department, Seneca Falls Police Department, Clyde Fire Department and North Seneca Ambulance.
