Press Release - pursuit / multiple warrant arrest

The Seneca County Sheriff's Office reports that on 10-23-13 at approx 8pm Sheriff's deputies responded to 9715 Case Road in Lodi for a complaint of a subject present there for which the Sheriff's Office had warrants of arrest for. Deputies report a vehicle took off from that residence at a high rate of speed and refused to stop for Deputies. Deputies continued to pursue the vehicle northbound on Rt 89 for several  minutes and it refused to stop until the front tires were flattened using "Stop Sticks" that the suspect vehicle ran over. The vehicle was  stopped at Rt 89 and Noble Road in the Town of Seneca Falls, and the driver Sharon L Sponaugle age 46 of 9715 Case Road was taken into custody at the scene. A passenger Brian D Ellis age 46 (no current address, formerly of 6535 Rt 80 Tully NY) which was the subject that the Sheriff's Office had warrants for fled the scene.  Units from the Sheriff's Office were assisted by Senca Falls PD, the NYSP and NYS Park Police, which searched the area for approx 3 hours but were unable to locate Ellis in the heavily wooded area. A six year old female Lodi resident who was a famliy member of Sponaugles was  also in the vehicle. No one was injured , and no vehicles were damaged during the pursuit. At approx noon on 10-24-13 Ellis was spotted by a Sheriff's Deputy on Rt 96 in Romulus in a wooded area across from the Five Points Prison and was taken into custody. Ellis was arrested on 2 warrants from the Town of Lodi court - one for Criminal Contempt in the second degree, and one for aggravated harassment in the second degree- Deputies alledge that Ellis has repeatedly harassed a Lodi resident and violated an Order of protection as well. Ellis was arraigned in the Town of Lodi Court and committed to jail on two separate committments of $10,000 cash or $20,000 bail bond each. Ellis was also charged with another count of Criminal Contempt 2nd, Endangering the welfare of a child and Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer in the third degree, and he will appear in the Town of Lodi court on Nov 21st at 10am to answer all the charges. Sponaugle was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a child and Unllawfully Fleeing a Police Officer in the third degree and was released to appear in the Town of Lodi Court on Dec 4th at 10am.
