Press Release - Structure Fire
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Seneca County Sheriff’s Office report that sheriff's deputies responded to a residential structure fire that was located at 116 Border City Rd Geneva NY 14456. Deputies report that the residence which is owned by Willie age 63 and Deborah Russ age 61 caught fire around 12:54 am and quickly spread throughout the residence. Deborah sustained burn injuries on her feet and and upper arms while attempting to leave the residence and was transported to Geneva General hospital by North Seneca Ambulance then flown by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment where she is listed in stable condition. Responding to the scene was Border City Fire Dept, Waterloo Fire Dept, Geneva Fire Dept, North Seneca Ambulance and the Fingerlakes Ambulance. Deputies report that the home sustained heavy damage - damage amounts and insurance are unknown at this time. Deputies report that the fire was apparently caused by Willie Russ having a lit cigarette in bed which ignited the mattress.
