FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
On February 27, 2013 at 1038 hrs Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 51 year old Ronald P. Betts of 4694 Kearney Road Stanley. It is alleged that Betts was hunting Coyote on Yellow Tavern Road in the Town of Fayette on February 18th 2013 and discharged a firearm from his vehicle while on the roadway. Through the investigation Sheriff’s Deputies also discovered that Betts had a prior felony conviction for DWI in 1986. Betts was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th, Possession of a loaded gun in a vehicle. He was also charged under the NYS Environmental Law for Taking Wildlife from a Vehicle, and Shooting from a Public Highway. Betts was issued appearance tickets to appear in Fayette Town Court to answer the charges on March 6th 2013 at 7 pm. The Sheriff’s Office were assisted in the investigation by NYS DEC Environmental Conservation Officers.
