Press Release - Drug Arrest




On April 25, 2018 at about 5:37pm, Seneca County Sheriff’s Investigators arrested Timothy J. Coffey, age 48, of Trumansburg, New York, on charges of Attempted  Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree, a Class D Felony, Attempted Criminal Possession of Marihuana in the First Degree, a Class D Felony, and Criminal Possession of Marihuana in the Fifth Degree, a Class B Misdemeanor.  The charges stem from an incident where Coffey arranged to have a shipment of about twenty-five (25) pounds of marihuana and about two and one-half (2 ½) pounds of hashish to a residence in the Town of Romulus.  Coffey then responded to the residence and attempted to retrieve the items, but was immediately taken into custody by Sheriff’s Deputies and Sheriff’s Investigators.  The street value of the drugs is estimated to be $125,000 to $150,000.  At the time of the arrest, Coffey also possessed a small quantity of marihuana inside his vehicle.  Coffey was arraigned in the Romulus Town Court and remanded to the Seneca County Correctional Facility on $500 cash bail/$1,000 secured bond.  Coffey is to reappear in the Romulus Town Court on April 27, 2018 at 10:30am.
