Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports on April 4, 2018 at approximately 4:39pm, Sheriff's Deputies investigated  a one car MVA that  took place on State Route 89 in the Town of Covert. Deputies report a vehicle driven by Lori J. Mitchell, age 49, of 2141 Water St, Ovid New York, was north bound on RTE 89 near Bergen Beach Rd when she left the highway, then crossed over the road into the south side ditch and rolled onto its side. Mitchell was checked at the scene by South Seneca Ambulance, and after refusing medical assistance, was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated. Mitchell was issued traffic tickets for failure to keep right, operating a motor vehicle while using a portable electronic device,  refusing to take a breath test, and driving while intoxicated with a prior, making this a felony. Deputies report Mitchell was arraigned in the Town of Covert Court and released on her own recognizance where she will return to Town of Covert Court on May 7, 2018 at 10:30am. Seneca County Sheriff was assisted by New York State Police, South Seneca Ambulance, and Interlaken Fire Department.
