Press Release - County Employee Arrested for Stealing Narcotic Pills



03/13/2018, 5:05 PM: The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division has concluded an extensive investigation into stolen narcotic medications from within the Seneca County Correctional Facility’s Medical Office. An investigation was initiated about 3 weeks ago by Corrections Personnel when it was discovered that a quantity of narcotic pills slated for destruction were missing from a sealed container. The missing pills included Hydrocodone—(A narcotic drug), and Pregabalin—(a controlled substance). All in all there were 103 pills missing.

 Corrections Officers and Corrections Medical Personnel assisted Investigators with the case. Over 20 interviews were conducted; hours of facility video were reviewed.


 The results of the investigation has led to the arrest of Laurie A. Guererri, age 58, of 1370 Grange Hall Road, Waterloo, New York. At the time of the incident, Guererri was employed as a Registered Nurse with Seneca County and worked in the Correctional Facility. Guererri has been charged with Official Misconduct, Petit Larceny, Promoting Prison Contraband in the Second Degree, and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree.  It is alleged that Guererri stole the medications while working and removed them from the Correctional Facility. Guererri was issued appearance tickets and is to appear in the Romulus Town Court on April 13, 2018 at 10am.  The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office also assisted in the investigation.


 Sheriff Luce stated that although these investigations are difficult for all members of the Sheriff’s Office the employees worked together to bring this investigation to a speedy conclusion.
