Press Release - Burglary/Larceny Investigation

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports the conclusion to an extensive burglary and larceny investigation that spanned nearly a year which resulted in the arrests of numerous defendants.  In total, the crimes committed in this case encompassed the Towns of Fayette, Junius, Seneca Falls, Tyre, Waterloo, and the Village of Waterloo.  Due to the size, scope, and complexity of the crimes committed, Sheriff’s Investigators worked cooperatively with members of the Geneva Police Department, New York State Police, Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, Seneca Falls Police Department, and Waterloo Police Department.  During the course of this investigation, Sheriff’s Investigators executed three separate search warrants resulting in the recovery of numerous pieces of physical evidence and proceeds of the crimes.  Based upon the Sheriff’s Office cases, the following people were charged:

 

Daniel S. MacGill, age 22, formerly of 29 Wycliffe Road, Waterloo, New York, was charged with Burglary in the second degree, Burglary in the third degree, two counts of Petit Larceny, and Criminal Mischief in the fourth degree.

 

Dejon O. Butler, age 18, formerly of 42 West Elizabeth Street, Waterloo, New York, was charged with Attempted Burglary in the third degree and Criminal Mischief in the fourth degree.

 

Joseph A. Valder, age 23, formerly of 4 East Elisha Street, Apartment 1, Waterloo, New York, was charged with Burglary in the third degree and Petit Larceny.

 

All three defendants have settled their court cases with prosecution from the Seneca County District Attorney’s Office.
