Press Release - Identity Theft/Grand Larceny Arrest



On February 20, 2018, at about 10:30am, Seneca County Sheriff’s Investigators arrested Michelle M. Richardson, age 41, of 350 Knickerbocker Avenue, Rochester, New York, on several charges relating to an extensive investigation into the unlawful use of credit cards.


Richardson was originally arrested on December 21, 2017 by Sheriff’s Investigators in relation to an incident at del Lago Resort and Casino in the Town of Tyre where Richardson allegedly stole a purse containing cash, a cell phone, and eight credit cards.  Further investigation since the arrest revealed that Richardson unlawfully used the eight credit cards on one hundred seventy-two (172) occasions at various stores throughout Monroe County allowing her to illegally obtain $7,195.34 in property. 


As a result of this, Richardson was charged with the following:


Identity Theft in the First Degree (one count), a Class D Felony

Identity Theft in the Second Degree (three counts), Class E Felonies

Identity Theft in the Third Degree (four counts), Class A Misdemeanors

Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree (three counts), Class E Felonies

Petit Larceny (five counts), Class A Misdemeanors


Richardson was arraigned in the Tyre Town Court and remanded to the Seneca County Correctional Facility on $15,000 cash bail/$30,000 secured bond.  Richardson is to reappear in Seneca County Court at a later date.  The case remains under investigation and additional charges may be forthcoming.
