Press Release - Aggravated DWI - Leandra's Law



On November 17, 2017 at about 6:18pm, Seneca County Sheriff's Deputies arrested Ramona D. Godley, age 43, of 310 Floral Avenue, Apartment 302, Ithaca, New York, following a traffic stop on Route 96 in the Town of Fayette.  Sheriff's Deputies located the vehicle that Godley was operating after the 911 Center received several reports of an erratic driver.  Upon stopping the vehicle, Sheriff's Deputies discovered that Godley was operating the vehicle in an intoxicated condition with her seven year old child riding as a passenger.  It is further alleged that Godley was unlawfully in possession of a quantity of Clonazepam.  The child was taken into emergency custody by Sheriff's Deputies at the scene and later turned over to Seneca County Child Protective Services.  Godley was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (BAC of .18% or more), Felony Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated - Child in Car ("Leandra's Law"), Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, and Failure to Keep Right.  Godley was arraigned in the Ovid Town Court and remanded to the Seneca County Correctional Facility on $2,500 cash bail/$5,000 secured bond.  Godley is to reappear in the Ovid Town Court on November 21, 2017 at 2pm.  The child was uninjured during the incident.
