Press Release - Narcotics Arrest



August 25th, 2017 at 1PM: The Seneca County Sheriff's Narcotics Unit, working in conjunction with members of the Geneva Police Department and Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, made an arrest in an ongoing investigation into heroin and fentanyl trafficking.

    Arrested was: Amanda A. Smith, age 29, of Phelps, NY.  Smith was charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd, and one count of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd

    It is alleged that Smith sold multiple baggies of fentanyl, disguised as heroin in Seneca County. Smith was arraigned at the Town of Romulus Court. She was released back to the custody of the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office where she is being held on similar charges. She is scheduled to reappear at the Town of Junius Court on September 21st, 2017 at 7:00PM.

    Sheriff Luce stated that heroin dealers are a high priority for the Narco Unit with a focus on dealers adding or substituting fentanyl. Luce explained that the fentanyl dramatically increases the already formidable chances of overdose.
