Press Release - Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office Reports that on the 17th of February 2017 around 7:00pm, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a one car property damage accident the occurred on Southtown Building Rd in the Town of Ovid. Upon arrival Sheriff’s Deputies located a 2011 Chevy Equinox sunk down in the ditch on the east side of the roadway. The vehicle appeared to have been traveling south on Southtown Building road when the vehicle drifted across the lanes and into the ditch. Witnesses on scene stated that the operator of the vehicle took off running. Sheriffs K9 responded to the scene and tracked the operator of the vehicle to inside a residence on Southtown Building road in the Town of Ovid. The Sheriffs K9 then located the operator inside the residence bedroom hiding from law enforcement. The operator has been identified as Wesley E. Ahouse 35 of 8398 Knight St Interlaken NY. Ahouse was taken into custody and issued several UTTs , including leaving the scene of a property damage accident, failing to keep right and speed not reasonable. Deputies report the Southtown Building Road homeowner did not wish to persue charges. Ahouse was released and is to appear on March 10th 2017 at 10:00am at the Town of Ovid Court.
