Press Release - Boat incident - update

The Seneca County Sheriff's Office reports it concluded the search of the north end of Seneca Lake this afternoon when the body of Gary H Gladis Jr age 47 of 98 Ridgewood Ave Geneva was recovered at about 3:18pm. The Seneca County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the NYSP Underwater Recovery Team which used sonar and divers to locate the body , which was in approx 20 feet of water , near the last location he was seen near the east side of Seneca Lake about 3/4 mile south of the canal. Gladis was pronounced dead by Seneca County Coroner Deb Kelley. The Seneca County Sheriff's Office was also assisted by the Ontario County Sheriff's Office, Geneva Police Dept , NYS Environmental Conservation Police, NYS Park Police, along with West Lake Road Fire, Seneca Falls Fire, and Border City Fire under the direction of Fire Chief John Morabito. Sheriff Tim Luce credits all the agencies with working together seamlessly and reports he hopes the efforts give the family some closure, and states "our thoughts and prayers are with the Gladis family at this tragic time".
