Press Release - Boating Incident
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Seneca County Sheriff's Office reports that at approx 3:49 pm the 911 center received a call from a 12 year old female on a boat in Seneca Lake reporting that her father and her 11 year old cousin were in the water and in distress. Neither had lifejackets on and the rough water was pushing the boat away ,making it so that the swimmers could not get back onto the boat.Deputies located the pontoon boat on the East side of Seneca Lake in the area of Kime Beach, and got the boat to shore, the 12 year old occupant was uninjured. The 11 year old female was picked up by another boat passerby and brought to Stivers Marina, where she was checked over and transported to Geneva General Hospital by South Seneca Ambulance , where she was treated and released. Deputies report that boats from the Seneca County Sheriff's Office, Border City fire, Seneca Falls Fire, Romulus Fire and West Lake Road Fire Departements checked the area for the 47 year old Geneva man until the search was suspended at dark. Seneca County Sheriff Tim Luce reports that the search effort will continue in the morning.
