Press Release - Official Misconduct Arrest
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
04/25/2016: Seneca County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Seneca Falls man for Official Misconduct and Unauthorized Use of a Computer after following up on a Domestic Violence case that occurred earlier this month. On 04/01/2016, Sheriff’s Investigators arrested Steven J Farnsworth, age 36, of 27 Garden Street, Seneca Falls, N.Y. He was charged with two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, two counts of Harassment 2nd degree and one count of Criminal Obstruction of Breathing or Blood Circulation. These charges were the result of an ongoing investigation into Domestic Violence. It was alleged that Farnsworth subjected a Town of Seneca Falls Female to physical violence, choking and threats over several different dates—sometimes in the presence of children. Farnsworth was arraigned on these charges and was committed to the Correctional Facility on $1000 cash, $4000 bail bond. A full stay-away Order of Protection was issued by the court. Further investigation has uncovered allegations that from October 2015 to March 2016 Farnsworth used his access and authority as a Seneca County E911 Dispatcher to obtain personal information on the female victim involved in the Domestic Violence case. It is alleged that Farnsworth accessed this information via the Seneca County 911 computer system and the New York State Integrated Justice Portal. Farnsworth was arraigned in the Town of Fayette Court and released to reappear in the Village of Waterloo Court on May 4th 2015. On 04/22/2016 Farnsworth resigned from his 911 position.
