HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MONTH:
The week of January 18th the Sheriff’s Office was assessed for Law Enforcement re-accreditation. A team of assessors conducted an intense examination of the Sheriff’s Office that included review of all policies, compliance checks and multiple interviews of employees. The Sheriff’s Office has been recommended for re-accreditation. The assessors remarked that our Sheriff’s Office was one of the best Police Departments they had ever assessed.
January 22nd our Narcotics Unit took down a crack cocaine dealer in the Town of Waterloo. A search warrant was executed on the Dealer, his vehicle and his home. Crack cocaine packaged for sale in Seneca County was seized. The Dealer, who had numerous prior felony convictions, was arrested on several felony drug charges. In December 2015 our Narcotics Unit took down a “Heroin House” in Waterloo where heroin was regularly being trafficked and sold. Follow ups in this case continue this month. Several children were rescued from the conditions in this house. Several Felony Arrests were made. Both of the above drug cases involved months of work and cooperation with our local and State agencies.
