Press Release - Sex Offender Sweep.



Seneca County Sheriff Tim Luce reports that the Sheriff's Office conducted a Sex Offender Sweep on the evening of February 4th, 2016. Officers were detailed to physically verify the addresses of fifty-four registered sex offenders residing in Seneca County under the supervision of the Sheriff's Office. During the detail sex offender's residences were verified and photograph updates were made. During this detail it was determined that two offenders were in violation and were subsequently arrested. Arrested were: Nathan Jones, age 35, a level two sex offender, who lives at 4867 State Route 96A, in the Town of Fayette.  Jones was charged with Offering a False Instrument for Filing, a class E felony.  This charge stems from Jones completing a false NYS address change form.  Jones was arrested at his residence then transported to the Seneca County Law Enforcement Center where he was issued an appearance ticket, processed and released to appear in Town of Romulus on March 1st 2016 at 10:00am to answer the charges.  Robert L. Kio, age 41, no permanent address, a level one sex offender, was arrested on February 5, 2016 in Watkins Glen, N.Y. after it was determined that he was no longer living at his registered address of 7442 State Route 414 Ovid, N.Y.  Kio was charged with Failing to Notify of an Address Change, a class E felony.  Kio was arraigned in Town of Covert court where he was committed to the Seneca County Correctional Facility in Lieu of $5000.00 cash or $10,000.00 bail bond.  Kio is to return to the Town of Covert court on February 9th 2016 at 10:00 am to answer the charges.

Sheriff Luce stated that the Sheriff’s Office is committed to the constant supervision of the registered Sex Offenders that reside in Seneca County.  The investigation into other offenders is on-going and more arrests are possible.  Anyone with information pertaining to a sex offender in Seneca County that is not residing where they are registered can call or text Inv.
