Press Release - Additional Charges in turbulent Domestic Violence Incident

On 11/17/2015 the Seneca County Sheriff's Office reports: Further charges have been filed in connection with a Domestic Violence Incident that occurred on 11/09/2015, in the Town of Fayette. It is alleged that on 11/09/2015, Alvie Johns, age 34, of 3619 Route 89, Seneca Falls, N.Y. engaged in a physically violent domestic with a Town of Fayette female. After being assaulted the female attempted to escape and fled the scene in a pick-up truck. Johns pursued the female in another vehicle and rammed the female’s truck twice causing both vehicles to crash. Johns continued to threaten the female who then fled the crash scene until located by Seneca Falls Police Officers who were assisting with the case. At that time Sheriff’s Investigators charged Johns with Aggravated Criminal Contempt first degree, Criminal Contempt first degree, Aggravated Family Offense, Reckless Endangerment first degree, Attempted Assault first degree, Assault third degree and several vehicle and traffic violations. Johns was arraigned and committed to the Seneca County Correctional Facility with no bail. A full stay-away, no-contact Order of Protection was issued. John's bail was later set at $7500.00 cash / $15,000 bail bond. On 11/13/2015, Johns was additionally charged with two counts of Criminal Mischief second degree for causing damage to the involved vehicles which were determined to be owned by the female victim.
On 11/17/2015, Johns was charged with fifty counts of Criminal Contempt in the second degree. Sheriff’s Investigators discovered that Johns was making phone calls to the victim from the Correctional Facility using other inmate’s phone accounts. This was in direct violation of the Order of Protection previously issued. It was also discovered that Johns was using these calls to obstruct the investigation and prevent the victim from testifying in the case. Johns was arraigned in the Town of Fayette Court for the Criminal Contempt violations and was committed to the Correctional Facility on an additional $50,000 cash / $100,000 bail bond , bail.
Sheriff Stenberg stated that his department will continue to vigorously investigate all Domestic Violence Incidents and hold abusers accountable.
This case is still under investigation; further charges may be pending.
