Press Release - Unlawfully Fleeing/ DMV Suspension

The Seneca County Sheriffs Office reports that on September 12th, 2015 at approximately 5:23am Deputies arrested James W Rogers, 46, of 119 E Elisha St Waterloo for Unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle 3rd Degree (A Misdemeanor, 2 Counts), Operating a motor vehicle without an interlock device (A Misdemeanor, 3 counts), Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2nd Degree (Unclassified misdemeanor, 3 counts), Reckless Driving (Unclassified misdemeanor, 2 counts), Failed to stop at a stop sign (Violation, 3 Counts), Failed to keep right (Violation) and Operating a motor vehicle without a license (Violation, 3 Counts).
Deputies report that the arrest stemmed from an incident that started in the City of Geneva. Geneva Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle that matched the description from a suspicious vehicle complaint that was called in through their 911 center. It is alleged that Rogers failed to stop and led Geneva Police department and Ontario County Deputies on a chase into Seneca County. While in Seneca County the Vehicle was pursued by Seneca County Deputies and Seneca Falls Police. Geneva Police and Ontario County terminated there involvement shortly after. The vehicle led Seneca County Deputies and Seneca Falls police department on a chase that ended in Seneca Falls on E Bayard St. The chase lasted approximately 10 minutes and during this time the vehicle broke numerous vehicle and traffic laws and created dangerous driving condition for motorists on the road. The suspect was taken into Custody without incident after a small foot chase through backyards on E Bayard St. No injuries were reported.
Rogers was remanded to the Seneca County Correctional Facilty in lue of $2500 cash/$5000 Bond. Rogers is to Appear before the Town of Seneca Falls Court on October 28th to answer the charges.
