Press Release - Welfare Fraud/ Petit Larceny Arrest

Seneca County Sheriff's Office reports that on February 5th 2015 they arrested Mary J. Heichel, age 44 of 4306 Ridge Rd. Seneca Falls, NY. Heichel was arrested on a warrant issued by Town of Seneca Falls Court charging her with one count of Welfare Fraud in the 5th degree and one count of Petit Larceny. The charges stem from an investigation of a report where it is alleged that Heichel was receiving public assistance benefits that she was not entitled to. The charges allege that on different dates between November 2013 and February 2014 Heichel received $725.00 for day care services for her children which were paid for by Seneca County Department of Human Services. During the time these services were paid, Heichel was not working and could have provided the services herself. Heichel was arraigned before Waterloo Village Court Justice Mattoon at which time she was released on her own recognizance. Heichel is scheduled to appear before the Town of Seneca Falls Court on March 5th 2015 at 6:00p.m. to answer the charges.
