Press Release - Annual Marihuana Eradication Detail

On September 11, 2014, a joint marijuana eradication detail was conducted in Seneca County by members of the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, and New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Police (DEC). Marijuana plants were located and seized out of fields in four of the ten towns within Seneca County. In total, 217 marijuana plants were seized. According to the DEA, the street value of the marijuana is estimated to be more than $200,000. Persons responsible for the illegal cultivation of marijuana in these cases also trespassed on private property and damaged the crops of hard-working farmers.
