Press Release - Garage fire

Seneca County Sheriffs Office reports that on 6-18-2014 Sheriff's Deputies responded to a report of a garage fire at 2735 County Road 139 in the Town of Ovid shortly after 7:30 am. Upon the arrival of Sheriff’s Deputies the garage was fully involved. The property owners were home at the time of the fire and were woken up to find the fire. A nearby passerby stopped to alert them. The owner is 43 year old Howard and 37 year old Lynet McLaughlin of the same address in Ovid. There were no injuries reported and the building was a total loss. Damage estimate was approximately $25,000. There was no insurance on the building. Ovid Fire Department with mutual aid from Lodi, Interlaken, Romulus, Varick and Fayette brought the blaze under control in about 30 minutes. Seneca County Fire Investigation team also responded to the scene to assist. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
