The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Friday July 22nd, 2022 at around 1:17am, Deputies responded to the area of 8370 State Route 89 in the Town of Covert for the single vehicle crash. Upon arrival, Deputies found the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, identified as Randy S. Eads, age 34 of County Road 132, Willard, New York standing next to the involved vehicle. Upon further investigation it was made known that Eads had been traveling northbound on State Route 89 when his vehicle left the roadway, traveling down an embankment off the east shoulder of the roadway and came to an abrupt stop at the base of a large tree causing significant damage to the vehicle. Trumansburg Ambulance Responded for a check over of Eads. Eads was showing signs of intoxication on scene and Deputies concluded that alcohol was the contributing factor in the cause of the crash. During the investigation Eads was showing signs of intoxication. After the investigation, Eads was subsequently placed under arrest for DWI. A records check did reveal that Eads’s New York State driving privileges were suspended currently. Eads was transported by Deputies to the Seneca County Correctional facility where he was processed and released with Appearance Tickets. Charges include DWI, Aggravated DWI (BAC of .18 or higher), Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd, and Moved From Lane Unsafely. Eads is due back to the Town of Covert Court at a later date in September, 2022 to answer all charges.
