The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on 05/02/19 at approx. 4:16 pm Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Amere R Thomas, age 21 of 142 Fall St Seneca Falls. The arrest stems from a traffic stop on Rts 5 & 20 in the Town of Waterloo while Deputies were conducting “Operation safe stop” sponsored by the Governors Traffic Safety Committee , (where Deputies and officers throughout the state are assigned to follow School buses watching for traffic violations ). During this time a Deputy observed the vehicle Thomas was operating , pass a stopped school bus that had its lights and stop sign activated. During the investigation Deputies discovered that Thomas was operating on a permit only which was suspended and also found him to be in possession of marijuana. Thomas was issued UTT’s for Aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree, unlicensed operator and failing to stop for a school bus. Thomas was also issued an appearance ticket for unlawful possession of marijuana. Thomas is to appear in the Waterloo Town Court on 05/08/19 at 1700hrs to answer to the charges. Sheriff Tim Luce reminds all motorists to be aware of and to use extra caution when following or approaching school buses . Sheriff Luce adds “Our children are too precious to be needlessly endangered by drivers not paying attention”
