These vessels are available 24 hours a day and can respond to any type of water emergency. The marine patrol season normally runs from May through October. Members of the marine patrol are certified by the New York State Office of Parks and Recreation. The Seneca County Sheriff is responsible for the enforcement of Navigation Law on Seneca, Cayuga and Van Cleef lakes, as well as the Seneca-Cayuga Canal. The primary mission of the Navigation Division is to ensure that boaters who choose our lakes for their recreation do so in a safe and responsible manner. While navigation enforcement is pararmount, our Navigation Members also share our philosophy of educating the public in safe boating practices

The boats and jet ski provide a platform for search and rescue and dive operations.

Administrative oversight of the Navigation Division is provided by the Road Patrol Lieutenant.
