The Criminal Investigation Division (C.I.D.) makes up the investigative and special services of the Sheriff’s Office. The unit is responsible for investigating major crimes such as felonies and serious or unusual misdemeanors. These crimes include: homicide, robbery, burglary, high level assaults, frauds, grand larcenies, drug offenses, crimes against the elderly and crimes against children.
The unit is supervised by Lieutenant John Cleere, a Sheriff’s Department veteran with over 23 years experience in law enforcement. Members of the unit are all experienced and highly trained police officers.
C.I.D. members have specialized training in the fields of: crime scene investigation, evidence processing, photography, interview and interrogation, fire scene investigation, sex crimes and child abuse investigation.
C.I.D. members also make up the Juvenile Aid Bureau (J.A.B.) The J.A.B. manages Registered Sex Offenders in Seneca County and oversees the Offender Watch Program. The J.A.B. also implements numerous Youth Programs in our community and schools.J.A.B. PROGRAMS:

During large scale criminal investigations, C.I.D. often works in collaboration with other local, state and federal law enforcement agencies in order to pool resources and more effectively solve crime.
The C.I.D. also offers adult training programs for school staff, service providers and other interested adult groups. Current training programs available are:
