Underwater Search and Rescue Team

The Seneca County Sheriff's Office Public Safety Underwater Search and Recovery Team was made possible by way of a grant from the New York State Department of Homeland Security. The terms of the grant encourage cooperative efforts between police and the fire service in the protection of vulnerable water based targets and in partnering in collaborative efforts such as search and rescue. The Seneca County Public Safety USRT is comprised of members of the Law Enforcement and Corrections Division and from volunteer firefighters from the Seneca County Fire Service.

The USRT is supported by two boats from the Sheriff's Navigation Division which serve as a platform for dive operations. The Seneca County Sheriff's Public Safety USRT operates under strict policies and procedures implemented by Seneca County Sheriff. The USRT is available for call out 24 hours a day – 7 days a week for any water related incident in Seneca County.
