Burglary Arrest

On May 13, 2020 at about 10:00am, Seneca County Sheriff’s Investigators arrested three individuals following an investigation into a burglary at a Town of Ovid residence. Initially, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a motor vehicle accident on Tunison Rd in the Town of Covert where it was reported a vehicle was stuck in the ditch. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the three occupants had just committed a burglary at a residence in the Town of Ovid and crashed their vehicle while fleeing from the scene. The vehicle was also found to be containing a large amount of stolen property from the burglary. Quantities of methamphetamine, crack cocaine, and marihuana were also seized as a result of the investigation.

The following were charged:

Anthony D Huddleston, age 26 of 6330 State Route 13 Cayuta, NY, was charged with:
Burglary in the Second Degree, a Class C Felony
Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree, a Class D Felony
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, Class A Misdemeanors (two counts)

DeShana N Briggs, age 34 of 12 Mobile Lane Freeville, NY, was charged with:
Burglary in the Second Degree, a Class C Felony
Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree, a Class D Felony
Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the Third Degree, an Unclassified Misdemeanor

Michelle L Kohut, age 39 of 36 Mallard Dr Ithaca, NY, was charged with:
Burglary in the Second Degree, a Class C Felony
Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree, a Class D Felony
Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, a Violation

All three individuals were arraigned at Seneca County CAP Court. Briggs was remanded to the Correctional Facility without bail due to prior felony convictions. Huddleston and Kohut were released on their own recognizance. All are to reappear at the Ovid Town Court at a later date.
