Arrests: Child Sexual Abuse Investigation

The  Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports on July 18th 2019 that Sheriff’s Investigators arrested two male subjects following child sexual abuse investigations in Seneca County.

Duane L. Porterfield, age 62, of 1167 County Road 147 Romulus, NY 14541. Porterfield was taken into custody following a lengthy investigation into his alleged possible involvement in the exchange of child sexual abuse images and videos and attempts to meet and connect with children for the purposes of committing sexual crimes. As a result of this investigation, Duane L. Porterfield was charged with the following crimes:
• 24 Counts of Possessing an Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child (Class E Felony)
• 1 Count of Attempt to Commit a Crime/ Use of a Child in a Sexual Performance (Class D Felony)
• 1 Count of Attempt to Commit a Crime/ Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child (Class E Felony)
Duane L. Porterfield was processed at the Seneca County Correctional Facility on all charges and held awaiting arraignment. Porterfield was released from the Correctional Facility after posting bail in the amount of $7,500.00 and is scheduled to re-appear in the Romulus Town Court on July 26th 2019.

Robert M. Heck, age 66, of 309 West Sherman Avenue Newark, NY 14513. Heck was taken into custody following a lengthy investigation into his alleged possible involvement in the exchange of child sexual abuse images and videos while employed at a business in the Town of Seneca Falls. As a result of this investigation, Robert M. Heck was charged with the following crimes:
• 8 Counts of Possessing an Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child (Class E Felony)
• 8 Counts of Promoting and Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child (Class D Felony)
• 43 Counts of Attempt to Commit a Crime/ Promoting an Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child (Class E Felony)
Robert M. Heck was processed at the Seneca County Correctional Facility on all charges and held awaiting arraignment. Heck was released after posting bail in the amount of $10,000.00 and is scheduled to re-appear before the Seneca Falls Town Court on August 14th 2019.

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office worked in collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on both of these criminal investigations which are still ongoing.
